The accessibility zones of train and metro stations in the Helsinki region indicate the distance to the stations as the crow flies and along the light traffic network.

Circular buffers indicate the distance to the station as the crow flies, forming a clear and consistent way to examine the station area. Zones that reflect the distance as the crow flies ignore the existing road network or the obstacle effects created by the environment. The 1000 m dataset of circular buffers in the station areas is formed from the centre of train and metro stations in the Helsinki region within 1000 metres as the crow flies. The cutoffs that hit the overlap are connected. As a rule, the focal point is placed in the middle of the platform area, taking into account the access routes to the platform area. Separate open data has been formed from the central point data. Circular buffers 1000 m and central points have been updated in autumn 2021.

In network buffers, the road network and barriers created by the environment have been taken into account. The zones have been formed along the light traffic route network, allowing for more detailed geographic information analyses. Network buffers are available for various metre quantities. Network buffer data is from 2015 and 2022.
