An updated version of the operating model for data sharing was published in Finnish in October. The version was open for commenting in September. We also translated the newest version to English and Swedish.

Improvements to opendata.fi – finding and adding APIs made easier
We are going to separate APIs from datasets at the end of October. Going forward, APIs will have their own subpage and metadata model, which makes describing and finding them easier.
Problem with delivering emails - FIXED
The update on opendata.fi's content management system in mid-June brought with itself an unfortunate issue, and opendata.fi has not been able to deliver emails after that. However, the issue has now been spotted and fixed. If you have tried to contact us via the contact form in the last month, and have not gotten an answer, please resend your message. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Dataset categories have been updated
The dataset categories opendata.fi uses have been updated and almost all open data datasets have been categorised. Please check the categories of your datasets.

Opendata.fi’s extension on DCAT-AP
Opendata.fi is now compatible with DCAT-AP! You can find more information about the DCAT standard, DCAT-AP application profile as well as our own extension on our website.

2019 Year in review and what is to come in 2020
Year 2019 was full of important events regarding open data. A lot happened also with our own data portal, opendata.fi. Last year, we focused on making the portal more stable, developing features our users have requested from us and creating better content for our website.
EDP Landscaping Insight 2019
European Data Portal organises an annual Landscape Insight -questionnaire about open data’s state in Europe. In 2019 Finland’s ranking improved significantly, but the development won’t stop here.
First decade of Open Data in Finland -event — Opendata.fi thanks all participants!
On 8.10. – 10.10., we celebrated the first 10 years of open data in Finland. The event brought together open data publishers, experts and users to look back at the highlights from the past ten years and to set goals for the future!
Publishers’ regional coverage defined
Regional coverage tells the user how large of an area each publisher’s data covers. Please check that your organisation’s regional coverage has been defined correctly.
Upcoming updates to opendata.fi
Opendata.fi has already been improved significantly this year, but there is still more to come! During the autumn, we will implement even more improvements to usability as well as some new features.
Co-development with other European data portals
We took part in an open data workshop in March and increased co-development with other European countries’ data portals. In the future, we aim to close cooperation with other data portals especially when it comes to developing the CKAN platform we all use.
