User account on opendata.fi
Registering with the opendata.fi service is mandatory only if you want to join an organisation or add or manage datasets. You can browse, download and follow the datasets available in the service without registering.
Register to the service on the Registration page using your email address. In the form, you are required to fill in the fields marked with an asterisk (*).
Registering as a member of an organisation
If you want to join your workplace organisation and act as a dataset maintainer, use your work email address.
If you are applying for a membership in an organisation or you are added as a member to an organisation, the administrator of that organisation will see your email address. The service administrators can always see your email address.
- Enter your email address and the username you wish to use.
The username may contain lowercase letters, numbers and the special characters - and _. The username cannot contain any Scandinavian characters. - Answer the CAPTCHA question.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation link in your email for creating a password for your account.
You can modify your profile settings later while logged in Profile > Account settings.

A good password is at least 12 characters long and contains uppercase and lowercase letters as well as numbers and special characters.

- Enter the password you wish to use and confirm it.
- Select Save.
On your profile page, you can see the datasets you have added and your activity in the service. In the My Datasets and the My Publishers tabs in the sidebar, you can view your datasets and the organisations which you are a member of.
- Edit your profile: You can edit the name and description shown to other users.
- News feed: You will see the events related to the items you follow.
- Account settings: You can change your password and email address.
Other users will see your username. They will also see your name and description if you have added those. The API key visible in your profile information can only be seen by you. You will need the API key for using opendata.fi through an API.
Resetting the password
If you have forgotten your password or username, you can order a password reset link to your email.
- Select Log in > Reset password.
- Enter your username or email address in the field.
You will receive a link to the email address associated with your account to reset your password. - Open the link you received in your email and follow the instructions.
The password reset link is valid for 24 hours. Your password will remain unchanged if you do not change it through the link.
