Schedule and position data on passenger ferries trafficking between Helsinki and Tallinn

The dataset includes monitoring data collected during the FinEst Smart Mobility project (5th April 2018 – 15th March 2019) on the passenger ships Finlandia, Star, Megastar and Silja Europa operating between Helsinki’s West Harbour and the Tallinn Harbour.

The dataset includes the ships’ position, speed, direction, scheduled departure and arrival times, actual departure and arrival times and estimated departure and arrival times.

The dataset is based on the data from the Digitraffic AIS service of the then Finnish Transport Agency, and it has been combined with the scheduling data of Eckerö Line and Tallink-Silja and the schedule monitoring and forecasting data developed by Fleetrange Oy in the project. The data includes a total of 4,388 trips between Helsinki and Tallinn and approximately 14 million data points over 339 days.

The spatial data is in the WGS84 format (dd.ddddd). All times are UTC. The coding set for the CSV file is UTF-8.
