The dataset includes the boundary lines of the admission areas of comprehensive schools and pre-primary education maintained by the City of Helsinki, as well as the names and identifiers of the areas. The dataset contains the admission areas for both Finnish- and Swedish-language primary and secondary schools as well as pre-primary education. The data includes both current and future pupil admission limits.
The limits for the admission of pupils to Finnish- and Swedish-language schools and to primary and secondary schools are presented separately. The boundaries are confirmed each school year.
The admission areas are updated annually on the basis of the notifications made by the education department. Where possible, the areas reflect the division of districts. The admission areas are mainly by school, but some of them are combined areas of several schools. The combined areas are distinguished by the fact that they are named, for example, “Vuosaaren yläasteet” (Vuosaari secondary schools). Otherwise, the name refers to a specific school.

The data is available for download in several formats, including JSON, KML, CSV, Esri Shape, and XML. Available formats can always be found under OutputFormat in the GetCapabilities query for the service.
