Finnish public libraries statistics

Finnish public library statistics. The Ministry of Education and Culture, together with the Regional State Administrative Agencies, is responsible for the Finnish public libraries’ statistics.

The libraries update their statistical data in the database, and the Regional State Administrative Agencies check the data before it is published.

The database contains data since 1999, however the data for 1999 and 2000 is more limited. The expenditure figures for the years 1999-2001 include VAT. From 2002, the VAT is not included.

The basic statistical unit is the municipality's or municipalities' public library system. Individual service points or library units are not recorded separately.
